For me, it's OK to drink, but it's definitely not OK to get drunk. I suspect your BF is of a similar mindset. Based on this, you can respect that in two ways: (1) don't get drunk; (2) break up with him so he can be free to be with someone who doesn't get drunk, and you can be free to find someone who will enjoy you when you're drunk. I am narrowing my focus on purpose to make my point. Extrapolate and apply to your situation as needed.
