Yes it’s weird to ask someone for a picture of their ID. If you want to just look at it fine but there’s no way I would send someone a pic of it. It’s a lot of identifying information and don’t want someone holding onto something like that. Maybe go to his place and let your friend know his address. That way if you don’t like him you can leave and he doesn’t know where you live.
