1. Honestly the answer seems to change regularly… sometimes it’s that he doesn’t know what to do. Sometimes he’s just not into doing it. 4. Completely possible that he can disassociate those things, sure. Except, neither of you did. You’re best friends, and you had sex. So no, by definition those things are not disassociated, they are very much associated. Here’s the reality of the situation, right now there is no non-sexual friendship to be built. You are both 19, neither of you know practically anything about friendships or sexual relationships, and the emotional complexity of building a post-sexual platonic bond is beyond both of you for a few years yet. You both have at least six years before your brains are done developing and you gain an adult level of maturity. If you know for certain that you do not want a romantic relationship with him, you have to cut contact completely for at least a few years. That lets him really move on and reorient himself emotionally. Once that happens, it’s possible to build something platonic.
