I wrote my undergrad thesis on the effects of pornography on risk-taking behavior. My original research didn’t find any direct links and most of my literature was mixed. Where I have some concern about underage porn consumption falls more into what people call “media literacy.” Media literacy is your ability to analyze what sort of messages your media is telling you, and adults struggle with it, too. For example, vetting a news source for potential biases is a form of media literacy. Porn, like all media, has certain tropes. There are obviously exceptions, but a lot of mainstream porn will depict sex a certain way. If someone is learning most of what they know about sex from porn, they’re probably not going to see elements of sex like discussion of preferences and limits, “gross” stuff like queefing, or “boring” sex. If you’re not aware of the importance or prevalence of these things, then you might feel more pressure to do something you aren’t comfortable with, you might cross a partner’s boundary because you think everyone does X act, or you might be grossed out or embarrassed by something that’s pretty normal. I wish schools taught porn media literacy because it’s stupid to assume teenagers aren’t watching it, and I think these sorts of risks can be mitigated with open discussion. I like Scarleteen.com as an honest source of sex education for teenagers and highly recommend teens check it out.

Mine certainly doesn’t but I don’t know about the others
