  1. By the time we are to that point, guys don't care. If looking at images, you will find some percentage of guys that have a preference including those like me who like the appearance of a darker labia.

  2. Usually….horniness is because of testosterone. But there are a lot of things in motion during a typical cycle….here is a chart of women's hormone cycle that happens to include testosterone. The mid-cycle ovulation boost is no big surprise, right? But notice how testosterone slowly ebbs up to about 50% of that level with a second peak around the time of your period while at the same time estrogen and progesterone reach their lowest points. In the body there is a “relativity” of hormones, meaning that it's not just about the absolute position of testosterone, but also about how testosterone is being balanced by other hormones, like estrogen or progesterone. In the case of mid-ovulation, you see a diving estrogen paired with a surging testosterone, one recipient for horniness. But after your period, it's different, but there is definitely a situation where for a bit testosterone rules the school. Estrogen and progesterone don't really recover for about a week following your period, so in a relative sense, there is a soft peak of testosterone coupled with a relative boost in the overall influence of testosterone due to the vacation status of estrogen and progesterone. So, that's why…. But, “science”, right? Keep in mind that measuring hormones is like measuring the ocean….and that a graph like this is only an “average” of a large group of women. It's like measuring ocean depth at a single spot….but does that really describe the complexity of the ocean, currents, waves, temperatures, etc? Nah. The reality is that hormones and the balance of it all is far more dynamic than this graph….it's all very dynamic and in constant motion. So, testosterone for instance, may be noticeable mid-cycle and after your period, but testosterone can surg from things like exercise or muscle building, or it can just decide to surf at 3am randomly and you have a sexual dream or wake up wanting sex in the middle of the night. So, there are predictable elements to sex drive, but also a whole bunch of unpredictable elements. I sometimes wonder if we are just on a roller coaster ride and we fool ourselves into thinking we are steering anything at all. If you want a deeper dive, explore “dopamine” and why we do anything (or everything) at all.
