For me, I was never on birth control while I was married, but as soon as I got divorced I got on birth control. Itโs just for my peace of mind. You can keep using condoms and be on birth control just to be extra safe. You should be able to go to Planned Parenthood for free or low cost birth control and they wonโt tell your parents. I understand not wanting to deal with side effects, but I donโt take birth control for my partner, I take it for me because I feel better having the reassurance of no unwanted accidents.
I agree with you that it's LGBTQ lingo, but straight people can be tops/bottoms too. For example in BDSM (where it does not mean the same as Dom/sub), but also in vanilla settings. Top is simply the more active or giving partner (for example giving oral or using toys) and the bottom is the receiver. Straight people have access to all the same sex acts as queer people.
