I've never had a cold sore and I've been tested for herpes, I assume they tested for HSV 1 & 2 but anytime I've been tested they never called (which means good news) and when I have asked about results been told it was all clear. I've asked partners if they've ever had a cold sore and also mentioned how common it is etc. And that I'm not judging or anything of the sort.. but if I don't have it, why would I want to be given it? I would never recommend ropes for a couple of reasons, although some people are experienced and prefer them from a visual perspective. Aside from what others have said about possible marks / injury, my partner always wants an “escape option”, if for example I had a medical emergency; the bondage straps we have will give way and break (can be fixed) if she REALLY tries.
