4. Seems like it’s mostly men here saying how they’re still attracted to their wives. That’s true of me too, but that may not be helpful for you. I’ve been married to my wife for almost 10 years; we were together for a few years before that. I know for a fact that she no longer finds me as attractive as she once did. It’s just something that happens, she says, with every guy she’s been involved with. I’ve made my peace with it. That was easier to do because we are non-monogamous and not each other’s only (or even primary) sexual outlet. But it was a tough thing to hear. I wish she desired me more. It probably wouldn’t be too hard to find a guy you’re really turned on by. The question is, can he offer the long-term security that your current guy can? Maybe, but I wouldn’t count on it. And the fact is, you’ll probably eventually see your attraction to guy #2 drop off as well. We’re designed imperfectly. We’re drawn to be with someone, we want to be with them all the time, but that “all the time” (and just try adding kids to that) changes the dynamic and dims our attraction to them. It’s the way lots of us are wired. Welcome to one of the many paradoxes of being human.
